"Daggers" and a swarm of drones: what is known about one of the most powerful strikes on Kyiv

According to the Ukrainian military, the air defense shot down 428 air targets, of which 166 were “lost in location.” According to the Ukrainian Air Force summary, Kalibr, Kinzhal and other types of missiles, as well as 440 drones, were used in the attack.

The Ukrainian authorities have named Kyiv as the main target. Mayor Vitali Klitschko claims that about 175 drones, 14 cruise missiles and two ballistic missiles were launched at the capital.

As reported by the Telegram channel “Rybar” , founded by retired officer of the General Staff of the Russian Federation Mikhail Zvinchuk , in Kiev alone about 30 infrastructure facilities were damaged, including warehouses and energy infrastructure.

Strong fires were recorded in the area of ​​the Kyiv Radio Plant, in the Darnitsky district, and also in the area of ​​the Zhulyany airport, where, as the media reports, American Patriot air defense systems were deployed. Kyiv residents note that there were more than ten landings at one point. Local resources wrote about explosions in the area of ​​the Boryspil airport.

According to Rybar, the dormitory of the Kyiv Aviation University was damaged, and the acting rector said that the students were in a bunker at the time. The strikes targeted a warehouse in the area of ​​the Antonov plant, where finished drones could be stored. Ukrainian resources reported that a large ammunition depot was hit and there was a secondary detonation. Air defense positions in the Solomensky and Darnitsky districts were hit.

"There is damage to civilian objects, which may be related to the chaotic work of the Ukrainian air defense forces. In one of the districts, the entrance of a multi-story building collapsed. There may be people under the rubble. About a hundred people were injured, a US citizen died. The work of doctors was noted in five districts of the city," Rybar reports.

The authors of the project suggested that the main targets of the strike were defense-industrial infrastructure facilities. According to unconfirmed reports, the Kiev armored plant and several military facilities were attacked.

Rybar notes that the Russian military launched a combined attack, with drones in the first echelon, followed by high-precision missiles.

According to power engineers, after the shelling, 1,148 households in Kiev were left without electricity, and transport links were disrupted. The authorities announced that critically important facilities had been damaged. In the Darnitsky and Svyatoshinsky districts, air quality worsened, which is associated with large fires .

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Odessa, Zaporizhia, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv and Zhytomyr regions were attacked overnight. At the same time, Ukrainians reported explosions in other regions as well.

"Rybar" called the night strike on Kiev one of the largest since the beginning of the SVO. Military blogger Yuriy Podolyaka emphasized the attack's unprecedented power and effectiveness. He also noted that due to the conflict between Iran and Israel, the massive strike on the Ukrainian capital did not become the main topic in the Western media.

According to the statement of the Russian Defense Ministry, a group strike was carried out on Ukrainian military-industrial complex facilities in the Kiev region and Zaporozhye. It is claimed that all designated facilities were hit.

On the night of June 17, the Ukrainian military attacked Russia with drones. During this time, the air defense shot down 198 drones, and in the remaining first half of the day - another 29 UAVs. Explosions were reported by residents of Yelets in the Lipetsk region, Tambov and Kotovsk, Tver and other regions of the Russian Federation. Air targets were also shot down on approach to Moscow, and due to the threat of attack, the "Carpet" plan was announced.

Donetsk came under fire in the morning. Local authorities reported a strike on two public utilities and a residential building that "collapsed" as a result of the attack.

The head of the DPR Denis Pushilin announced that 14 people were injured. According to his information , the city was hit by fragmentation rockets (M31) for the HIMARS MLRS. Local media reported casualties, but this information has not been officially confirmed.

According to war correspondent Yevgeny Lisitsyn , five people died as a result of the strike. The rubble is being cleared, and the number of injured and victims may increase.
